Driving Innovation and Efficiency in Partnership with Siemens Mobility

K&K UK Fasteners supplies Goole Rail Village in East Yorkshire

Goole, East Yorkshire, January 23, 2025: Siemens Mobility recently officially opened the new Goole Rail Village in East Yorkshire, where energy-efficient underground trains for the Piccadilly Line in London are produced in 3 production halls and 10 assembly areas. K&K UK Fasteners (K&K UK) has successfully implemented a rail-specific solution perfectly tailored to Siemens for the management of C-parts across more than 530 lines, significantly increasing productivity. It took just six months from K&K UK's supplier nomination to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Jeremy Pugh, Managing Director of K&K UK, is proud of the performance of the entire team, which included not only the UK team but also Keller & Kalmbach's Rail Competence Centre in Germany: "Time was of the essence, but this project proved that we stand for efficiency and innovation, but above all for a high level of quality and reliability. With our rapid implementation, we strongly supported the start-up of Siemens Mobility in Goole and created a solid foundation for future operations.”

High productivity and optimization of the entire workflow

When it comes to the management of C-Parts, K&K UK Fasteners is a specialist in this field. A tailored combination of solutions is used to manage Siemens' fastener supply. The highly flexible labelLOG® scanning system, which covers more than 500 parts, is combined with 22 mobile shelves and the Logtopus® platform to ensure high transparency in material supply management. With labelLOG®, demand is triggered by scanning a QR code on the label via a smartphone or app. The system is third party compatible and can use existing infrastructure such as shelves and containers. The use of mobile shelving and dispensing systems, with stock levels monitored and replenished at set intervals, has significantly reduced walking distances and picking times, resulting in increased productivity and a tidy, easy-to-handle system. Finally, the Logtopus platform is the digital centrepiece of the solution, with which supply chains can be efficiently managed. Siemens Mobility is delighted with the performance of its partner: "Working with K&K UK has been transformational and a resounding success. The high level of customer focus and collaborative spirit we experienced ensured the satisfaction and commitment of our team".

K&K UK's first megaproject

The story of K&K UK Fasteners Limited began with the formation of the joint venture in the autumn of 2022, with the company goal of becoming a key partner to the UK industry as a specialist in fasteners and C-parts management. After opening the sales office in East Riding of Yorkshire and being nominated as a Siemens supplier for the mega-project in Goole, K&K UK ensured a smooth supply chain - initially with the support of the central warehouse in Germany. In addition, the logistics solutions had to be adapted to local market conditions. Despite these challenges and a very short time to SOP, K&K UK successfully implemented a rail-specific C-parts management solution, significantly increasing productivity.
